Who is the person you need to relate to most in your life? YOU! No matter who else you are relating to you always have to relate to self first! That is why I feel the conscious awareness and personal growth aspects of my work are the most important. I am sure many have heard the old dictum: “MAN KNOW THY SELF” given by the great philosopher, Socrates. Well that is exactly what my work in self-awareness and awakening skill development is all about. It is simply getting to know oneself more fully and what it is to be congruent with all one’s differing aspects, the good, the bad and the so called ugly, parts! We all have thoughts and feelings that we experience and do not want. Everyone has self-talk that holds them back. So in order to help my clients work with limiting self-talk and uncomfortable feelings I use energy work along with self-awareness and awakening skills. I am writing this info today so that people may see how they can consciously work with uncomfortable feelings and habitual patterns they may wish to change. I am going to explore how to be skillful with one’s thoughts and feelings. Because once I work together with a client, they learn how to deal with these uncomfortable feelings and the limiting self-talk. And then the client will be able to develop this skill for them-self. An example of a session would be as follows: A client would pick an emotion or a habitual pattern that he/she wants to work with. This way of working with uncomfortable emotions and patterns is different than one may have experienced before. It is going to be a celebration & understanding of their emotions! There are many reasons to celebrate our emotions. So what emotion can we celebrate that seems to be a re-occurring uncomfortable experience? If we were working together I would use a couple of different approaches which may also include something called voice dialog where one gets in touch with the aspect of oneself that feels the discomfort of the feeling and feels stuck there! What happens for many people is that they have an experience in childhood and as a child they formed an image or belief connected to that unpleasant experience. Often the child consciousness gets stuck there emotionally and the pattern of the uncomfortable feeling keeps reoccurring, and for good reason I may add! It is so because the universe is always....I repeat, always very supportive in our personal healing process and the re-occurrence will hopefully spur one on to pay attention and heal the discomfort and images that were formed in child-consciousness. One way to deal with uncomfortable feelings is by taking action and meeting the missing experience and also by learning how to stay with the uncomfortable feelings long enough to receive the information needed. Then one is able to transform the image. Feelings can change just by our awareness and the attention we are able to hold upon them! Once we have discovered the image and or pattern formed , then we can begin the integration and the clearing of any misconceptions of child-consciousness. And of course I would be working energetically to bring in more energy and healing where ever it is lacking. We would work together while in dialog with one another rather than having the client lying on the healing table for a healing which is usually less interactive. This type of conscious awareness work along with the energetic work really brings wholeness and completeness to the adult that the client has become. Growing up emotionally, mentally and spiritually brings forth the fullness of who one really is and the emotional maturity that matches chronological age. When clients finish one of our self-awareness/ awakening skills sessions they leave feeling more connected with themselves and what is true for them. They also feel empowered to meet their needs as they arise in the moment. This ability to meet one’s own needs rather than looking outside are truly priceless.
